About the Hemispheric University Consortium (HUC)

On April 23, 2018 Presidents from 10 universities across Latin America, the Caribbean, Canada, and the United States convened to discuss the concept of a hemispheric consortium, culminating in the signature of a Memorandum of Understanding and formation of the Hemispheric University Consortium.

 

The driving purpose of the consortium is to facilitate problem-based collaborations in education and research to generate the knowledge and solutions necessary to confronting the key challenges facing not only the hemisphere but also the globe including:
 

1)    Public Health and Wellbeing
 
2)    Climate Change, Sustainability, and Resilience
 
3)    Entrepreneurship and Inclusive Innovation
 
4)    Crime, Conflict, and Corruption
 
5)    Technology and innovation for education

The University of Miami has served as the coordinator of this unique consortium, developing problem-based research and educational programs with consortium members across each of our campuses.
